I can’t believe you are actually on my blog. (OMG!)

And, I can’t believe you are reading this post. (inserts SCREAM!)

I’m really happy that you dropped by for a visit. I love to entertain and have people over but we need to get the awkward stuff out of the way.  Let’s get to know eachother so we can be besties!

MEET THE BARNE YARD

HEY GIRL HEY!    My name is Pia Barnes and I live in Toronto, Canada with my amazing husband and our 3 children. They. Are. Perfect.

My eldest son is Shaudon.  He is an aspiring 2028 NBA first draft pick (I said it here first!).  He really believes ball is life and he has a genuine love for the game. He is everything to me and the best son a mommy can ask for.  He actually prayed for a brother and sister and 8 years later he was blessed with an answered prayer.

My youngest are Shiloh and Shalom and they are twins.  Their personality is the exact opposite of each other and I’m fascinated that these two little people were in my tummy at the same time.  They both love to dance and currently the Kijiji commercial gets them grooving. It’s literally the cutest thing ever! We actually just let them have their moment when it comes on TV because they always give Don the “Daddy look at me!” look.

Don and I met each other at a party and we did not hit it off right way.  We lost connection but a few years later he popped up on my birthday and this time he did his research! I was so impressed! In a nutshell, I love that man! He drives me crazy but he’s my best friend. He makes me better. 10 years down and a couple of forevers to go.

WHY BLOGGING?

While I was on Maternity Leave Don got me a book to register for a blogging course. I was like no thank you; I’m not interested in blogging.  He left it at that.  A few weeks later, I was talking to a friend and she asked if I ever thought about starting a blog. I was like girl bye; I don’t have time for that!

The year literally flew by but I actually couldn’t wait to get back to my 9 to 5 hustle because I love my job and I love being a career mom. Soon it was March, my maternity leave ended and I was back to my career as a Corporate Law Clerk/Paralegal.

I was on lunch and a lightbulb went off in my head. I called my husband like “babes I want to start a blog!” He casually says “really?”. And we both started laughing!

I always get wrapped up in my thoughts and I suddenly felt an urge to be a platform of inspiration for others.  I’ve always wanted a creative outlet to express myself but blogging seemed a bit farfetched for me. What angle would I approach it from? I knew I had something to say, moments I wanted to share and memories to capture… but blogging?….nawww…. Now understand this, this urge was very foreign to me because I’ve never ever had an interest in blogging. However, the more I tried to convince myself blogging wasn’t for me, the more the entire thing just felt right!

As I start this journey, I realize that this blog isn’t only a platform of inspiration for others; it is also a platform of inspiration for me.  You see fear has crippled me in many areas of my life because I’ve always been so scared of failing. So as I share this blog with you, I’m also discovering Pia.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM THE BARNE YARD?

My overrated pursuit of simplicity and balance.

How I try to make life simple as a working mom, while trying to balance my everyday responsibilities such as the ups and downs of motherhood and marriage while never losing sight of our tiny big moments.

I’m so ready for this chapter in my life and I am even more stoked to share it on this platform with you.  I’m excited to share our moments with you and I hope our everyday stories will help to make your life a tad bit easier.  I believe that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.

So what are you waiting for? Let’s go on this adventure together. I can't wait to see where it takes us!

Still don’t think you know enough?
